2023 Municipal Agriculture Economic Development and Planning Forum coming to Northern Ontario – October 17 to 19, 2023

SAVE THE DATE: On October 17 to 19, 2023, the 15th annual Municipal Agriculture Economic Development and Planning Forum is taking place in Northern Ontario for the first time! This is co-hosted by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) and the City of Temiskaming Shores.

The theme for this year’s forum is “Connect, Collaborate, Cultivate Agriculture Across Ontario.”  The event will kick off with a meet and greet in the evening along with local food sampling.  The following day attendees will be invited to hop on a bus for a tour to see firsthand, agriculture development in the north. The forum will wrap up with a day of inspiring speakers and more networking opportunities.

The City of Temiskaming Shores (formerly the Town of Haileybury, New Liskeard and the Township of Dymond) has a population of 9,920 and is one of the most picturesque communities in Northern Ontario. This amalgamated municipality is positioned to embrace the future. With a strong agricultural base, the area’s economy has been able to avoid the boom-and-bust cycle of other northern communities that relied on the mining and forestry industries. Temiskaming Shores has become an economic and service hub community.

Individuals with interests in rural planning, economic development, or any aspect of the agriculture sector such as food, farming, workforce attraction or the agri-food value chain will find value in this three-day forum.

Registration will open in August 2023.  Details and a full agenda will be available at www.farmnorth.com.
