The Business Development Branch within OMAFRA has developed a resource that provides evidence-based insights into the food and beverage sectors of the Ontario economy that are important to you.
Major subsectors include; grain and oilseed, sugar and confectionary, fruit and vegetable, dairy product, meat product, bakeries and tortilla, snack food, seasoning and dressing, soft drink and ice, breweries, wineries and cannabis.
Each sector profile includes the following data:
- performance
- leading companies
- key indicators
- highlights
- investment activities and trends
The Sector Profiles are sorted using the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes.
The Sector Profiles are simple to follow without compromising on data details and are presented in an easy-to-use web-based book format that can be downloaded as a PDF.
How can Sector Profiles be used?
Industry associations, businesses, communities and regional economic development and planners can use our Sector Profiles to:
- Undertake current and future business development
- Inform engagement with industry and businesses
- Support investment planning
- Inform members, stakeholders, businesses, and community groups
Ontario’s food and beverage sector is significant and diverse. The sector accounts for over 30% of the overall agri-food sector’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) (farm, wholesale and retail).
