Introduction to OMAFRA’s Downtown Revitalization program

Interests

Join a free webinar on Wednesday, December 13th from 10 am until 11:30 am on the topic of OMAFRA’s downtown revitalization program. Downtown Revitalization is a process of improving the economic, physical, and social well-being of a community’s traditional town centre by:

  • Strengthening local businesses and encouraging investment
  • Creating enjoyable and animated public streets and spaces
  • Providing residential and employment opportunities that respond to a range of needs.

Presenters will discuss balancing downtown revitalization by considering market driven strategies within economic development, leadership & management, marketing & promotion, and physical improvements. Participants will hear from a community that has revitalized their rural downtown.

The Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) began using a 4-point approach to support rural communities interested in Downtown Revitalization in 2005.
