What You Need to Know About Uses Permitted in Prime Agricultural Areas

Upcoming Webinar  November 2, 2023 from 10am – 12pm

The next Agriculture Economic Development and Planning Community of Practice session is entitled “What You Need to Know About Uses Permitted in Prime Agricultural Areas”.

Permitted uses in prime agricultural areas enable farm operators and their families to diversify their operations, stimulate the rural economy through jobs and increased tax base, and foster awareness and appreciation of agriculture.

This OMAFRA training session on permitted uses in prime agricultural areas will include:

  • An overview of provincial policies and guidance for those new to the topic, and a handy refresher for others
  • An opportunity to hear about municipal best practices from municipalities themselves
  • Information on easy-to-use tools that will make it easier to support diversified uses in your municipality

Based on the input of those who sign up, the session will also address new and challenging areas.  For example, we plan to discuss municipal approaches to battery storage facilities, given the recent interest in such facilities to help meet Ontario’s rising electricity demand.
