If you have agriculture economic development in your portfolio, don’t miss this opportunity to hear about the latest trends, network, learn from your peers, and talk about the future of the industry. The theme of this year’s Forum is “Embracing the Future: Agriculture and Technology”. Come and hear about leading edge research and development that is taking place in Ontario, as well as get a glimpse into what the future could hold.
The bus tour on Day 1 will highlight examples of on-farm diversification, agricultural automation, and advances in greenhouse technology, and includes a tour of one of Canada’s leading Cannabis producing operations. The dinner will feature local food and an exciting speaker.
Day 2 will kick off with keynote speaker Henry Gordon–Smith, a sustainability strategist focused on urban agriculture, water issues and emerging technologies. He will talk about how the technology behind urban agriculture will impact both rural and urban communities in Ontario and the agri-food industry in general. We will hear about what sort of technology development is taking place in the region and where it is heading. We will also hear how technology is transforming workforce development in Southwestern Ontario, and how gleaning can help address the emerging issue of food waste. Finally, we will have an interactive discussion on best practices to deal with event hosting as an on-farm value added activity.
This year’s event is at the Best Western Leamington and is hosted by the Towns of Leamington and Kingsville. For more information and to register visit: https://www.leamington.ca/agforum
